2004 awards
The 2005 Recipients are:
- Mary Craik - Mary is a self-taught textiles artist whose work includes quilts, wall hangings, banners and wearables. After retiring from a career as a university professor of psychology, Mary is now, at aged 80, free to spend more time pursuing her art and helping others to do the same. Her work is currently in local galleries and has been exhibited in 24 states. She has won numerous awards, including the People's Choice Award at the 2004 National Women's Music Festival and Art Show at Kent State University.
- Marlene Grissom - Marlene is currently director of special projects for the Waterfront Development Corporation and her civic involvement is extensive. She has served on the boards of the Louisville Ballet, KET, Speed Art Museum and Fund for the Arts. She has served on the Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft Board since 1984 and most recently chaired the capital campaign for its new facility on Main Street.
- Karen Edwards-Hunter - Karen is an artist, educator arts administrator and creative writer currently working at the Jewish Community Center. She is founder and director of the JACKY Teen Royale Theatre Company, a 2000-03 artist-in-residence at ATL and founder and director of the Advanced Stage Theatre Company. She has also been an artist-in-residence at JCPS and the Kentucky Arts Council.
- Nana Lampton - Nana has worked extensively as a champion for Louisville arts, including serving the Kentucky Opera, Louisville Ballet and Fund for the Arts. She chaired the Hard Scuffle Steeplechase for benefit of the opera for 22 years. She is accomplished poet having been published in The Louisville Review, New Millennium Writings, KY poetry Review and Green River Review.
- Lorna Littleway - Lorna is founder/producing director of Juneteenth Legacy Theatre, Kentucky's only professional African-American theatre company. She is a director, playwright, actress and educator. She is a Drama League alum, a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab and Immediate Past President of Black Theatre Network.
- Nancy Niles Sexton - Nancy is founder of Walden Theatre and has taught and worked with young actors for 30 years. She has lectured and conducted workshops for the Arts Councils of KY, IL and IN and Boston University School of Theatre. As a member of Actors Equity, she has performed and directed extensively.
- Eloise Terry- Eloise is the founding member of the Young at Hearts Theatre, a group of 35 seniors (65+) who present two shows each year. Her love of entertaining began at a very early age and Eloise was performing in USO shows as early as 1948. She performed on radio and TV, creating the character of "Lil Black Widder" on the daily T-Bar-V Show. She also has performed and choreographed at theaters throughout Louisville.
