The 2006 Recipients are:
- Nancy Gall Clayton is an award-winning playwright whose works have been produced locally as well as throughout the United States. Formerly a lawyer, Nancy now writes plays full time and has had many of them published and produced at universities and festivals throughout the country. Many of her plays are about women and women's issues. Her work is archived at Ohio State University and she works with Spalding's MFA students as well as the Governor's Scholars program.
- Helen Lang is founder and chairperson of the Crane House which is an Asian Institute, celebrating Asian languages and culture, largely through artistic expression. She has served on almost every multi-cultural board in town and works extensively in the education of children to foster understanding of Asian customs. The Crane House has been growing and developing since its beginning in 1986.
- Estella Conwell Majozo is a published author, poet and playwright who also serves as a full professor in the University of Louisville's English Department. Her works center on the African American experience both here and throughout the world. She has participated in a number of multi-disciplinary public art programs dedicated to the issues that have and continue to confront African Americans.
- Marilee Hebert Miller is currently the editor/publisher of Anchorage Press Plays which specializes in plays for young people. But most people will remember her from her 23 years with Actors Theatre of Louisville serving in a number of capacities including actress, director of the Intern/Apprentice program, Director of Free Children's Theatre, Director of Lunchtime Theatre and Cabaret Series, Community Relations Director, International Touring Company Manager, Coordinator for the Humana Festival of New American Plays and 17 years as Associate Director working alongside Jon Jory and Sandy Speer to build ATL to the its status of one of the most artistically successful regional theatres in the country.
- Bekki Jo Schneider is the owner and producer of the Derby Dinner Playhouse, a year round restaurant and entertainment center that employs more than 100 people and attracts more than 200,000 visitors annually. Her theatre experience is extensive and includes almost every phase of producing a play. She is also highly in demand as a public speaker and has given more than 200 speeches on women, youth, arts and business management.
- Helen Starr is retired as Associate Artistic Director of the Louisville Ballet where she worked with her husband to build the ballet to its current heights. She has traveled the world dancing and staging the most noted ballets including Giselle, Coppelia, Odette, and The Sleeping Beauty. Since retirement, she has moved to acting, helping to form the Chapel Players and performing in their many productions.
- Delores White Baker is a writer, teacher and volunteer who has worked extensively with military veterans to help them find work as well as opportunities for expression. She worked for over 25 years with the Jefferson County Board of Education. Her work A Slave Wedding was aired on HBO in 1998 and she is a recipient of the WLKY Bell Award and Courier-Journal Phenomenal Women Award.
